Get Involved

As a Driver

We hold various different types of events throughout the year depending on your skill level. For newbies, we have a few example options below:

For those who want to try out Drifting but don’t have the car to do so, Drifting SA can supply you with your own Drift car and a personal teacher on the skidpan.

Our “bring your own car” Drift School is usually run on a skidpan (except for advanced drift schools which may be run on a larger track) where we offer individual tuition with courses ranging from donuts, figure of 8’s for beginners to a more advanced course where drivers can practice entries and tandems. Please note that students for the BYO Car Drift School are required to bring their own car to use and learn in.

What kind of car do I need? A rear wheel drive car with a diff that doesn't open wheel and a helmet is pretty much all you need to get started! Additional safety modifications/equipment required for competition drivers, please see below.

Competitions & Regulations

If you are considering entering a competition (or a high speed practice event), please review the standing regulations here so you are aware of what to expect regarding car setup and driver etiquette.

Supplementary regulations sent out prior to each event.

For dates of future events, visit our Events page.

Pro Rides & Passenger Passes

Want to go passenger in a drift car! Then take a look at some of the options below.

Pro Rides

Go for a ride with one of our 'Pro' drivers. We provide a helmet & put you in the passenger seat with a driver from the team. You will do a set number of laps (normally 3) in the passenger seat of the car, while the driver is flat out sideways. Often these are completed in trains of cars, so you will be within inchs of other cars doing the same thing. Pro rides is normally ran as a part of our larger events like matsuri's or drift competitions & can be bought on the same web page that you would normally buy an spectator pass.

Passengers Pass

Got a friend or family member driving at one of our events & want to go for some laps with them? then you can purchase a passenger arm band & do just that. Of course the car will need all the safety equipment to take passengers & you will need to provide your own helmet. We offer passenger passes at all our events & they can be bought online on the event page.

As a Volunteer or Board Member

We are a group of passionate volunteers who meet on a regular basis to advance drifting in South Australia.

Our events are operated by a highly knowledgeable team, supported by an assortment of volunteers who donate their time to ensure the successful delivery of our events. On the day duties include startline, flags, recovery, pit runners, pit release, pit exit and more. All that is required is some reasonable knowledge of track safety and a genuine commitment to the roles.

If you would like to get more involved, start by following our Facebook page (link below), attending our events and then put your hand up if you think it's something you'd like to be a part of!
