Get InvolvedAs a DriverWe hold various different types of events throughout the year depending on your skill level. To drive, you must be at least 14 years old, however anyone younger than 18 must contact us for approval before entering and have a parent/guardian with them. For newbies, we have a few example options below: DRIFT CAR RENTAL For those who want to try out Drifting but don’t have the car to do so, Drifting SA can supply you with your own Drift car and a personal teacher on the skidpan as part of our Drift Car Rental option at Drift School / Skidpan Days. DRIFT SCHOOL What kind of car do I need? A rear wheel drive car with a diff that doesn't open wheel and a helmet is pretty much all you need to get started! Additional safety modifications/equipment required for competition drivers, please see below. Drifting SA Driver members receive discounted entries to all events (saving $40 per day per event). Join now! Competitions & RegulationsIf you are considering entering a competition, please review the standing regulations so you are aware of what to expect regarding competition format, car setup and driver etiquette. Supplementary regulations sent out prior to each event. L2 is the entry-level category for drivers who are new to competition. It provides an opportunity for participants to gain experience and build confidence in a competitive environment. Once drivers have demonstrated their skills and feel more comfortable with the pressures of competition, they are encouraged to move up to L1, which offers a more challenging level of competition for seasoned competitors. For dates of future events, visit our Events page. At the start of each year we offer a special Driver membership upgrade called a 'Season Pass'. A Season Pass costs the equivalent of a round’s entry before the season starts and seeks your commitment to enter all Rounds across the year. As a reward, your entries for each round are heavily discounted, with the last round being free (essentially getting the initial Season Pass fee back while also having benefited from the heavily discounted round entry). You also get $99 Practice Entry on the Saturday, plus other goodies throughout the season! The Season Pass stays valid while you keep entering each round, it cancels if you miss a round (paying for a round but not driving is an option to maintain the season pass). You can upgrade from standard Driver membership to Season Pass here. ATTENTION INTERSTATE DRIVERS: If you are from Interstate and planning to drive our Competition Events, we offer discounted Pracs and other benefits. please email president @ driftingsa.com.au to find out more. |
Pro Rides & Passenger Passes
Want to go passenger in a drift car! Then take a look at some of the options below.
Pro Rides
Go for a ride with one of our 'Pro' drivers. We provide a helmet & put you in the passenger seat with a driver from the team. You will do a set number of laps (normally 3) in the passenger seat of the car, while the driver is flat out sideways. Often these are completed in trains of cars, so you will be within inchs of other cars doing the same thing. Pro rides is normally ran as a part of our larger events like matsuri's or drift competitions & can be bought on the same web page that you would normally buy an spectator pass.
Passengers Pass
Got a friend or family member driving at one of our events & want to go for some laps with them? then you can purchase a passenger arm band & do just that. Of course the car will need all the safety equipment to take passengers & you will need to provide your own helmet. We offer passenger passes at all our events & they can be bought online on the event page.
The Drifting SA Board is group of passionate volunteers who meet on a regular basis to advance drifting in South Australia. The Board's role is to conduct activities that support the positive recognition of drift, including public displays, relationship management and safety regulations.
Each year, an Annual General Meeting is held, which all members of Drifting SA are invited to, and new Board members can nominate and be voted in at this time.
Event Volunteers:
Drifting SA events are coordinated by a highly knowledgeable events team duo called 'Drift Dates. On event days, an assortment of volunteers donate their time to ensure the successful delivery of events. On the day duties include startline, flags, recovery, pit runners, pit release, pit exit and more. All that is required is some reasonable knowledge of track safety and a genuine commitment to the roles.
If you would like to get more involved, start by following our Facebook page (link below), attending our events and then put your hand up if you think it's something you'd like to be a part of!
